Digital Doctoring And The 2.0 Deontology Theory

Deontology 2.0

When prescribing a mobile app to monitor your health is the best thing your physician can do for you (and for the cost of healthcare):  Eric Topol MD, cardiologist: "Now the information is going to the patient, not to the doctor".

Watch the BBC 60 min show "Monitor me" and (cardiologist) Eric Topol MD's segment at 21.30: a medical revolution that seems so obvious, plain and simple... It will stimulate your mind with this mind boggling question: why is this "monitoring" medicine not becoming the standard instead of the exception??
Our health care system is NOT patient-centered. Medicine as we know it is entrenched: doctors are lonesome cowboys, which has proved inadequate: we need pit crews instead (and forget about the cowboy crap!). Now if you listen to this MD (to me he sounds like T'pol in "Star Trek DS9" TV show), you'll understand why medicine 1.0 is in a crisis. The answer is plain and simple: healthcare should be patient-centered, not Big Pharma&Biotech-centered... My body, my data... Oh, by the way: ever heard of Paris (France) fablab "La Paillasse"? If not, this video is worth your while! (You can activate the subtitles in English: see menu bar at bottom of video.) Making custom DNA on demand, printing DNA, sequencing tumour DNA from cancer patients, then providing data analysis to tell them whether a specific drug or treatment will work...  possible and feasable (read)... Is biology's May 68 happening now? (read). According to NerdWallet, patients can use the ultimate "NerdWallet" tool to compare health cost and quality care for the top 170 procedures in the U.S. in over 3000 hospitals... Aaaand the "2.0 Deontology" theory is... getting real?

  2. NerdWallet enters the health space with new hospital-comparison tool

"NerdWallet has already launched its first product, a hospital comparison tool. As recent press reports show, costs vary wildly between hospitals and health clinics. Patients know exactly how much they will pay for a carton of milk, but when it comes to surgical procedures, they are in the dark.

NerdWallet is attempting to rectify this problem — its new tool pulls data, released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. According to NerdWallet, patients can use the tool to compare health cost and quality care for the top 170 procedures in the U.S. in over 3000 hospitals."
