Welcome to the digital era of biology (and to this modest blog I started in early 2005).

To cure many diseases, like cancer or cystic fibrosis, we will need to target genes (mutations, for ex.), not organs! I am convinced that the future of replacement medicine (organ transplant) is genomics (the science of the human genome). In 10 years we will be replacing (modifying) genes; not organs!

Techno-médecine sans conscience n'est que ruine de l'âme ...

Je rêve d'un travail en bonne intelligence des médecins et de la techno-médecine (positive interaction between physicians and techno-medicine: medical devices, bioengineering etc) ... car quelquefois la machine est sur-vendue (au détriment du patient) ; exemple : les systèmes de chirurgie mini-invasive assistée par ordinateur da Vinci TM, loués à grand renfort de tapage médiatique au début des années 2000 pour leur "excellent travail en chirurgie cardiaque" ... ce qui ne s'est pas avéré exact à 100%, loin de là ... Certains chirurgiens du cœur m'ont parlé de patient(e)s qui en ont fait les frais ... L'une d'elles a même écrit un livre pour raconter son calvaire : "Comment j'ai été violée par un robot" ... jamais publié par un éditeur 1.0 ... A l'inverse, il arrive que la médecine institutionnelle et corporatiste soit sur-vendue (paternalisme médical gaulois et américain), au détriment du patient ... pas pris en charge assez tôt ... du coup il décède ou se retrouve amputé etc., alors que l'aide d'appareils numériques (digital devices) aurait pu faire la différence pour sauver sa peau ou améliorer sa santé ... mais on dirait que certains toubibs ont peur qu'un iPad leur pique leur job ... Appelons un chat un chat, ou du moins essayons-nous à ce petit exercice de précision sur ce petit blog, voulez-vous bien ? A mon avis, vaste programme ...
