Welcome to the digital era of biology (and to this modest blog I started in early 2005).

To cure many diseases, like cancer or cystic fibrosis, we will need to target genes (mutations, for ex.), not organs! I am convinced that the future of replacement medicine (organ transplant) is genomics (the science of the human genome). In 10 years we will be replacing (modifying) genes; not organs!

Introduction à la chronique bioéthique : "Le don d'organes : un business ?"

Dans les pays comme la France où les greffes d’organes se font très majoritairement (à 90 pour cent) à partir de donneurs dits "décédés", et non à partir de donneurs vivants cédant un de leurs reins ou un lobe de leur foie, le problème de la pénurie d’organes à greffer est vu sous l’angle du Don : si les Français étaient plus généreux, la pénurie d’organes n’existerait pas. Le "Don 'post-mortem'" est envisagé comme la panacée. Trafic d’organes ? Pénurie d’organes à greffer ? Il suffit de pousser sur le Don et tout rentrera dans l'ordre. Petit décryptage, à l’heure où les lois bioéthiques sont en cours de révision, la nouvelle version étant prévue pour février 2011 ...
