Scientific MOOCs follower. Author of Airpocalypse, a techno-medical thriller (Out Summer 2017)

Welcome to the digital era of biology (and to this modest blog I started in early 2005).

To cure many diseases, like cancer or cystic fibrosis, we will need to target genes (mutations, for ex.), not organs! I am convinced that the future of replacement medicine (organ transplant) is genomics (the science of the human genome). In 10 years we will be replacing (modifying) genes; not organs!

Anticipating the $100 genome era and the P4™ medicine revolution. P4 Medicine (Predictive, Personalized, Preventive, & Participatory): Catalyzing a Revolution from Reactive to Proactive Medicine.

I am an early adopter of scientific MOOCs. I've earned myself four MIT digital diplomas: 7.00x, 7.28x1, 7.28.x2 and 7QBWx. Instructor of 7.00x: Eric Lander PhD.

Upcoming books: Airpocalypse, a medical thriller (action taking place in Beijing) 2017; Jesus CRISPR Superstar, a sci-fi -- French title: La Passion du CRISPR (2018).

I love Genomics. Would you rather donate your data, or... your vital organs? Imagine all the people sharing their data...

The Death of Brain Death (and the 2045 Avatar Project) Milestones

"3.0": Preparing To Transplant A Human Brain Into A Robot Body

What if science made it possible to preserve your brain in a cybernetic capsule after the death of your body, and transplant the capsule (your brain) into an... avatar (a human-like android)? This sounds like the exact opposite of "brain death" and organ donation, right?

"A young Russian billionaire has launched his own Avatar project. Dmitry Itskov plans to make a human brain immortal by transplanting it into a robot’s body. The Project’s aim, Itskov says, is to create an autonomous system of human brain nutrition, preserve nerve connections so that the brain does not degrade or die, making it possible to transplant a human head onto an artificial body. For real."

The 3.0 era has already started (read here). It includes Human-Like Androids, Brain-Computer Interfaces, Bionic Prostheses, Engineering Memory, Consciousness through Spiritual Practice, Mind Theory (see the program of "Global Future 2045 Congress Program" that took place in June 2013 here).

Our brain could outlive our body (and live for 200 or 300 years!)

Avatars like the ones you saw in the James Cameron movie could become available in 10 years! Is this sci-fi or science?

Now you remember we have an established "post-mortem" organ donation system, based on some kind of belief that the human brain possibly dies before the rest of the body, which provides transplant surgeons with enough time for working (living) vital organs retrieval - from a "brain dead" body with a beating heart (what we call "a dead donor")... Now what if science shows that our brain outlives the rest of our body (by more than 100 of years)?

I guess saying "2045 avatar project milestones" pretty much sounds like saying "the death of brain death milestones"...
