Welcome to the digital era of biology (and to this modest blog I started in early 2005).

To cure many diseases, like cancer or cystic fibrosis, we will need to target genes (mutations, for ex.), not organs! I am convinced that the future of replacement medicine (organ transplant) is genomics (the science of the human genome). In 10 years we will be replacing (modifying) genes; not organs!

En France génomique rime avec chômage

"Le comité d'éthique gaulois interdit aux Français de faire de leur propre chef leur séquençage génomique ... (amende de 15.000 €) ... Alors qu'une start-up anglaise va commercialiser une clef USB de séquençage ... et qu'il y aura des tas de sites internet qui vous expliqueront à quoi correspond votre séquençage ..." Faudra expliquer aux Français ce que c'est, la génomique et la technomédecine et la nanomédecine et le bioengineering tissulaire ... Ce n'est pas le comité d'éthique gaulois qui va s'y coller ... Il désinforme pour conserver son pouvoir. Cela s'appelle "faire de la politique" ... Et si on parlait de "patient education" en France ? Y a du boulot ... et du chômage ... Cela, c'est pour nos banlieues ...

Aux USA, en Californie, ils ont une start-up qui s'appelle Organovo ... Le corps médical (chirurgical) et les "patients" et associations de patients me font parfois penser à SFR qui se bouche les yeux les oreilles et la bouche ... et ne voit pas venir ... Free ... On connaît la suite : le patron de SFR a été licencié ...

Quand vous parlez de tout cela aux chirurgiens gaulois, ils vous traitent au mieux d'emmerdeuse, au pire de cinglée (pour eux tout cela c'est juste de la science-fiction). Quand était-ce la dernière fois que je me suis fait traiter de cinglée par un chirurgien ? Ah oui, il y a trois jours ... Réaction de M. Billaut : "Cela ne m'étonne pas ... car ces braves gens sentent confusément que leur pouvoir ... qu'il leur faudra se former à tout un tas de nouveaux trucs ..."
