Gastro-esophageal reflux can turn into esophageal cancer... Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) pills won't do the job in terms of making the reflux disappear... Don't ignore the problem...

For now, take them for as short a time as possible and if you have to have them long term, make sure you are checked regularly.
